Commissioned by Jellyfish Pgh, a Pittsburgh-based event organizer, Jellyfish is a large inflatable installation I made in 2022. The installation floats above Jellyfish Pgh's monthly late-night discos, serving as a focal point for the partygoers.
Construction of the jellyfish took 2 months. The jellyfish was a solo, handmade project I pursued in my home. I drafted the body in Rhino, made patterns, cut and sewed the nylon, dyed the piece in my kitchen, added lighting, and tested its inflation on my front porch. I was also responsible for its installation at monthly Jellyfish parties.
Many thanks to Stephanie Tsong and Ricky Mawzlin for commissioning this project and being such fantastic collaborators. Also, thanks to Olivia Robinson for her inflatables class at CMU.
